Prince Michael of Kent to open Young Driver Focus 2015

PRINCE-MICHAELHRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO will deliver the welcome address at the Young Driver Focus 2015 event in London on 15 April.

Young Driver Focus 2015* is being held at the RAC Club in central London, courtesy of the RAC Foundation. The event is being organised by Road Safety GB and FirstCar.

Prince Michael is President of The Royal Automobile Club and also devotes considerable energy to promoting road safety in Britain and around the world.

His Royal Highness established his International Road Safety Awards in 1987.  He is Patron of The Commission for Global Road Safety, established as an independent commission by the FIA Foundation in 2006 with a remit to examine the framework for, and level of, international cooperation on road safety, and to make policy recommendations. He has a keen interest in the education of young drivers and is Patron of First Gear.

Prince Michael represented Great Britain as a bobsleigh driver for many years and was a reserve for the 1972 Olympics. As a vintage car enthusiast, he was part of the team in 1992 that broke the 1,000-mile record for cars over 5,000cc in a 1929 Bentley Special. A competitive rally driver, he is also a qualified pilot of both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
