Presentation: The Road Safety Performance Forum (RSPF)

The Road Safety Performance Forum (RSPF) is a biannual meeting for anyone involved in performance-based education for young drivers, such as Safe Drive Stay Alive, Learn 2 Live, Licence to Kill, 2Fast2soon etc. Each year many tens of thousands of young drivers attend these types of events, yet until now, there has been no formal way of exchanging knowledge, experiences, ideas and resources.

FirstCar organises the sessions, which are currently joint-chaired and by Deana Frost and Mark Taylor. Venues change each meeting and usually accommodate 20-30 attendees. Agenda items include topics such as venue selection, transportation, securing attendance, working with speakers, audio visual aspects of the performances and sustainability – including securing funding and private sector sponsorship.

Although the Road Safety Performance Forum is still in its infancy, it is already spurring improvements and further developments within even established performance programmes. The next meeting is on 12 July at Hertfordshire County Hall. Anyone with an interest in exchanging knowledge is very welcome to attend.
