Meredydd Hughes retired as a UK Chief Constable in October 2011. His national responsibilities had included leadership of major public and sporting events, roads policing, firearms, public order, and emergency planning. His career culminated in his overall co-ordination of the UK Papal Visit in 2010, and his leading role in the police planning for the 2012 Olympics.
Now Executive Chairman of Road Safety Support Ltd, he also works internationally as a consultant and lecturer in his specialist policing and security fields, bringing his 32 years of policing leadership to bear on critical problems in road safety, counter terrorism, and major event command.
Road Safety Support has an international reputation for road safety strategy and enforcement consultancy. Working worldwide, it has delivered projects for the UN, charities and national governments.
Meredydd remains a keen climber and mountaineer, and has recently completed a Master’s degree in strategic leadership and counter terrorism.
